Vikings sink Lexington

GRAND ISLAND – The Lexington boys saw their season come to an end Monday night after falling to Northwest 53-36 in the first round of the B7 subdistricts.

Northwest led from start to finish, keeping a double digit lead much of the game with three different Vikings scoring in double figures. Lexington couldn’t overcome their mistakes, turning the ball over 18 times and only scoring 12 second half points.

Eight different players scored for Lexington as they were led by Austin Friedrichsen’s 13 points. Mathew Salas contributed seven points and Kaden West scored six in the loss. The Minutemen converted 5-13 shots from the free throw line. Lexington ends the season with a 3-18 record.

RRN/Lexington vs Northwest

Jed Walford led Northwest with 17 points while Sam Hartman chipped in 14 points and Parker Janky scored 10 points. The Vikings turned the ball over 10 times and went 5-9 from the charity stripe. Northwest advances to the subdistrict final to play Hastings Tuesday night.
