Victim of car-bicycle accident identified

Kearney, Neb. — The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office has identified a bicyclist who died as a result of an accident as Thomas Pribnow, age 48 of Kearney.

The driver of the car has been identified as Nathaniel Heckenlively, age 39 of Kearney.

The Sheriff’s Office determined the accident occurred shortly before 5:30 a.m. Thursday, August 1.

Sergeant David Gibbs of the Buffalo County Sheriff’s office says a bicyclist and a car were traveling eastbound on East 56th Street, just east of Antelope Avenue about a mile outside the city limits of Kearney. The car collided with the rear of the bicycle.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by members of the Kearney Police Department, Kearney / Buffalo County Fatality Accident Investigation (FAIT) team, Kearney Volunteer Fire Department, CHI GSH Paramedics, Buffalo County Highway Department and the Buffalo County Attorney’s Office.
