Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska Kearney women’s basketball team is ranked 22nd in the latest edition of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II Top 25 poll.
The rankings are determined by a panel of head coach from around the country.
UNK (9-1) has been in “others receiving votes” all season, getting as high as 26th last week. A year ago, the Lopers were in and out of the polls as well, coming in a tie for 22nd in the February 1 edition. That was the last appearance in the Top 25.
Missouri Southern State (4th), Minnesota State (6th) and Central Missouri (24th) are the other Central Region teams ranked with Augustana (26th) the next closet.
The Lopers are at defending region champion Missouri Western (6-3, 1-1) on Thursday night at Northwest Missouri (4-3, 0-2) Saturday afternoon. UNK swept the regular season series from both last winter but loss to MWSU, 72-59, in the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament in March.
