Union Pacific’s Big Boy Locomotive Rumbling Through the Panhandle Thursday
Historic Union Pacific train Big Boy No. 4014 will be making stops in North Platte, Cozad, Kearney and Hastings in early August.

One of the most famous trains in the region will be rumbling through the state’s southern Panhandle Thursday.

Union Pacific’s Big Boy 4014 Locomotive will depart Cheyenne, Wyoming on August 5th and travel to stops in Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas and beyond. The train will make stops in Pine Bluffs Wyoming, Kimball and Sidney on August 5th, and then on the 6th, it will depart from Sidney as it travels into Kansas, Missouri and further east.

The Big Boy will stop in North Platte Friday afternoon, Aug. 6, and will be available for viewing through Saturday, Aug. 7. It will make stops in Cozad and Kearney and Hastings on Sunday, Aug. 8.
