Two Nebraskans have punched their tickets to the 50th edition of the Canadian Finals Rodeo October 2-5, 2024 in Edmonton, Alberta.

Riley Wakefield of O’Neill and J.T. Adamson of Cody will both compete in the tie down roping.

Wakefield will be sporting the #1 back number for his performance this season in multiple events. His efforts in the team roping, steer wrestling, and tie down roping have made him the high money earner of all 119 competitors that will be in attendance at this year’s CFR. Looking to next week, he said his goals are clear.

“I’m hoping to ride aggressive at the barrier, rope every calf, and be smooth on the ground,” said Wakefield.

Fellow Nebraskan J.T. Adamson will also be making his CFR debut. Through five rounds of competition, he plans to compete aboard a special buckskin horse raised by his grandmother.

“We ranched on her and she had a lot of success in the barrel futurity world,” said Adamson. “I just started roping on her for fun.”

Wakefield and Adamson are two of 12 tie down ropers that will compete at this year’s CFR.
