Thanksgiving “Click It or Ticket” numbers released

Lincoln, Neb. — The Nebraska State Patrol assisted 215 motorists and removed from the road 13 impaired drivers during the Thanksgiving weekend. The State Patrol, along with dozens of other law enforcement agencies in Nebraska, participated in the annual “Click It or Ticket” campaign that ran from Wednesday, Nov. 24 through Sunday, November 28.

In addition to the 13 arrests for impaired driving, state troopers also issued 413 citations for speeding, 21 for open alcohol container, 3 for minor in possession, 3 for no proof of insurance, 10 for no seat belt, and 5 citations for improper child restraint. Troopers also supplied 215 motorist assists over Thanksgiving weekend. NSP also urges Nebraskans to prepare for the winter season. Monday, the Nebraska Department of Transportation announced improvements to the Nebraska 5-1-1 system, found at 511.nebraska.gov

The “Click It or Ticket” effort was made possible in part by a grant for $25,500 from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety.
