Storm posts 4-0 shutout over Force

KEARNEY, NE – The Tri-City Storm posted a 4-0 victory over the Fargo Force Saturday night at the Viaero Center behind a 24-save shutout performance from goaltender Cameron Korpi. Korpi turned away every Fargo shot to record the first shutout of his Storm career. Jake Richard, Dane Dowiak, Evan Werner, and Daimon Gardner each netted a goal for the Storm in the win. Tri-City will host Fargo tomorrow afternoon for the final game of this weekend’s three-game home series. Puck drop for tomorrow’s matchup at the Viaero Center is scheduled for 3:05pm CT.

Jake Richard netted his team-leading 28th goal of the season on the powerplay at 15:04 of Saturday’s 1st period to give the Storm a 1-0 lead in the matchup. Trevor Connelly notched an assist on the scoring play. Each team recorded 10 shots on net during the opening period of the game, and Saturday’s 2nd period began with Tri-City leading 1-0.

Dane Dowiak scored the middle period’s only goal with twelve seconds left to give the Storm a 2-0 lead in the matchup. Dowiak’s goal was his twelfth of the season, and was assisted by Jake Richard. Tri-City outshot Fargo 12-11 in the 2nd period, and the Storm carried a two-goal lead into Saturday’s 3rd period.

Evan Werner scored his seventeenth goal of the year at 12:17 of the 3rd period to give Tri-City a 3-0 lead in the game. Alex Bump recorded an assist on the scoring play. The final goal of Saturday’s game was fired into an empty net by Daimon Gardner. The scoring play was his tenth of the season, and was recorded at 17:38 of the 3rd period. Artemi Nizameyev registered an assist on the play. The Storm outshot the Force 13-3 in the final period, and 35-24 overall in the matchup. The Storm improved to 28-17-3-3 on the year with the victory. Cameron Korpi improved to 10-2-2-0 on the year in goal for Tri-City. Anton Castro dropped the game in goal for Fargo after making 31 saves on 34 shots.

Tomorrow’s game is Tri-City’s annual United Way Night. Storm players will wear specialty sweaters during the matchup. The game-worn jerseys will be auctioned off in both a postgame auction, and an online auction. A Nebraska Lottery Family 4-Pack will also be available for purchase. The ticket deal includes four tickets to tomorrow afternoon’s home game at the Viaero Center between the Tri-City Storm and the Fargo Force, four hot dogs, four sodas, and two Nebraska Lottery Scratch Off Tickets for $40.
