Omaha- A penalty kick in the 72nd minute gave Omaha Skutt a 2-1 win over Lexington in the Class B boys state championship match on Tuesday night. Sam Schendt connected on the PK as the Skyhawks then kept Lexington scoreless the remainder of the match. Skutt never trailed after Dylan Toth got loose for a goal in the sixth minute as they jumped out to an early lead. The Minutemen would struggle against SKutt’s pressure defense before Ernie Vargas would take a pass and score inside the 18 as Lexington tied it at one in the 59th minute. Skutt beat Lexington for a second straight year for the title, after Lexington prevailed earlier this season back in March.  Lexington head coach Joel Lemus says this one was tough to take.

Lexington wraps up the season at 19-3, while Skutt won 17 in a row after starting the year 1-3. More photos from KRVN Photographer Paul Pack can be found on the River Facebook page. Click here for the podcast of the game.
