Howard County Sheriff’s Office deputies and officers with St. Paul Police Department responded to a call about a river rescue at the Loup River bridge South of St. Paul. last Thursday evening around 5:30pm

An adult female and minor child were holding onto one of the bridge supports with the river current trying to take the individuals down river.

Law enforcement deputies and officers entered the river, grabbed the individuals and were pulled to the sand bank using a ResQdisk. St. Paul Fire and Rescue were on scene and checked on the individuals involved in the incident.

In a statement, the Sheriff’s Office said that “without the quick response from all agencies and departments involved, this situation could have been much worse” as the current was still strong and deep waters in areas of the river where the incident occurred.
