Overton & S-E-M sweep into FKC Finals

KEARNEY – After winning in straight sets Tuesday, Overton and S-E-M will meet in the FKC championship game on Thursday while Pleasanton and Amherst will play in the third place match.

In the first semifinal, S-E-M had to battle through every set, but would come out victorious 25-12, 29-27, 25-21. Mikah O’Neill led the Mustangs with 16 kills and two ace serves. Audrey Reiter finished with six kills while Mattison Beattie served six aces. In the loss, Amherst was led by Hannah Herrick who had 10 kills and Tenley Hadwiger contributed nine kills and four ace serves.

The second semifinal saw Overton cruise to victory 25-15, 25-17, 25-20 over Pleasanton. JoLee Ryan shined Tuesday as she blasted the Bulldogs with 22 kills. Kenzie Sheele finished with seven kills in the win. For Pleasanton, Chelsea Fisher made it tough for the Eagles as she finished with 15 kills in the losing effort.

Amherst and Pleasanton will play at 6:00 p.m. Thursday in the third place game while Overton and S-E-M will meet in the FKC championship game at 7:30 p.m. Both games will be played at Kearney Catholic High School. Listen to both games on KAMI Country and krvn.com.
