A Lexington man is behind bars on suspicion of shooting and killing someone.

Lexington Police say at around 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to the area of Cypress Lane in reference to a verbal altercation.

When officers arrived, they contacted the reporting party and observed a silver vehicle stalled in the front yard area of a home.

Police say as officers were conducting a preliminary investigation, it was determined there was an adult male inside the vehicle who was deceased.

Police also found numerous bullet holes in the windshield and front of the vehicle.

Authorities say investigators found physical evidence at the scene and followed up with witnesses.

Following the investigation, 33-year-old Aristh Rodriguez Linares was arrested for suspicion of 1st-Degree Murder, Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony, and Discharging a Firearm into a Vehicle or Person. He is being held without bail in the Dawson County Jail pending arraignment.

The Lexington Police Department was assisted on scene by the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office, the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office, and the South-Central Area Law Enforcement Services.

An autopsy has been scheduled for later this week.
