The Rural Radio Network welcomes Miller, NE native Karla Nichols as their 2022 summer intern.

Nichols, a sophomore at Southeast Community College in Beatrice, will graduate upon completion of her internship with her Associate’s Degree in Agribusiness. Upon graduation, Nichols will transfer to the University of Nebraska – Lincoln to study Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Communication.

Throughout the summer, she will conduct interviews, write stories, and create content for the Rural Radio Network. Nichols will be based out of the Nebraska Soybean Board Studios at Nebraska Innovation Campus in Lincoln.

Nichols grew up on a farming and ranching operation in central Nebraska where her passion for agriculture began. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, hanging out with friends, and completing DIY projects.

“I am looking forward to gaining experience in the communication field and broadening my knowledge of agriculture,” Nichols said. “I grew up listening to KRVN with my dad and I am excited for this full-circle opportunity.”

Nichols’ internship is made possible with support from the NAFB Foundation, which offers internship grants to member stations and networks.
