Lexington-The Lexington girls soccer team started the season in a big way with an 11-1 win over York. This was the largest win in school history, the previous record for goals in a game was seven. This is also the first time Lexington has won a match due to the mercy rule. The first goal of the season was scored by Berniece Garcia with an assist from fellow senior forward Citlali Prado in the 8th minute. The two would go on to score a combined 9 goals in the game. Valeria Perez and Maylin Novoa would also score to give the record breaking number of goals in a game to 11.

Coach Keith Allen had this to say about the victory, “A great team effort by all the girls really contributed to our possession. Really happy with the ability to finish in the final third, something we’ve struggled with at times in the past. We feel good about what the girls are doing, but have some things we’d like to clean up before taking on Hastings Thursday.”
