Lexington police classifying death as result of a possible drive-by shooting

    The Lexington Police Department is classifying the death of 23-year-old Marcus S. Keyser this week as the result of a possible drive-by shooting. 

    Lexington Police Chief Tracy Wolf is asking the public to check any surveillance equipment they may have on their property, particularly between the times of 1:30am and 3:00am on July 6th.

    Chief Wolf says that around 3:10am on July 5th, medical rescue was dispatched to the 800 block of West 9th Street for an unresponsive male on the ground.  He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

    Law enforcement was called to the area about an hour earlier, around 2:00am, on an anonymous report of gunshots.   Officers from Lexington Police Department, Dawson County Sheriff’s Office and Nebraska State Patrol responded but no activity was found at that time.

    The Lexington Police Department is investigating the case with the assistance of the regional law enforcement coalition known as the South Central Area Law Enforcement Services.
