LEXINGTON – For many years the McCook Bison had their way with the Lexington Minutemen. On Friday night the more physical team was Lexington. The Minutemen held the Bison without a touchdown and less then 190 yards of total offense and held on to win 8-5.

McCook scored first when their defense sacked Lexington’s Davan Naylor in the endzone for a safety making the score 2-0. Lexington responded when Naylor found Levi Converse wide-open in the endzone. Hunter Steward scored for the two-point conversion to take a 8-2 lead into half time.

To begin the second-half, McCook went on a seven-minute 18 play drive that ended in a missed field goal. They would get the ball back though and drive to the 1 1/2 yard line and had a first down and goal. Lexington’s defense stiffened and the Bison would have to settle for a field goal, making the score 8-5.

Neither team was able to score in the next couple drives. McCook would get one more chance, but the Minutemen once again turned them away.

Both teams move to 2-3.
