The vandalism that occurred at Harmon Pool on July 13 resulted in damages to several pieces of equipment and a high-pressure pipe that is part of the pool water re-circulation system. In order to repair this pipe, the water has to be drained from the pool. As a result, the pool will be temporarily closed until the necessary repairs are completed, the pool is re-filled, heated, and water chemistry is brought within the required operational ranges. We are hopeful that the pool will re-open within 7-10 days, however, further updates will be provided as soon as more is known regarding the re-opening date.
In lieu of Harmon Pool being temporarily closed, the City of Kearney Park and Recreation Department is adding a third session for public swimming on weekdays at Centennial Pool starting Monday, July 15. The sessions will be as follows: Session #1: 9:30am-12:30pm; Session #2: 1:00-5:00pm; Session #3: 6:30-8:30pm. Weekends will remain 1:00-7:00pm. Centennial Pool has a maximum occupancy of 300 people. To help us accommodate the large bather load demand this week, we do ask that you are mindful in planning which session to attend that day so that we can disperse attendance throughout the sessions.
