The Nebraska State Patrol and Nebraska Department of Transportation closed Interstate 80 Eastbound Thursday afternoon from Brady(mile marker 199) to the Interstate at Cozad(mile marker 222) due to a grass fire just east of the Gothenburg interchange.
West bound remained open.
The fire was encroaching the Interstate along with smoke causing concerns for traffic safety.
Fire Departments from Gothenburg, Cozad and Lexington responded along with Nebraska State Patrol and Dawson County Emergency Management.
