Gov. Pillen issues statement following events at Trump campaign rally

LINCOLN, NE – Governor Jim Pillen has been following the unfolding of today’s events out of Butler, Pennsylvania at the campaign rally for President Donald Trump. He released the following statement:

“This was a terrible incident and a shocking moment for our democracy.  Suzanne and I are gratified that President Trump is reported to be okay, but we are deeply saddened to hear that one attendee was killed and at least one other has been injured. All politically motivated violence is to be condemned, no matter what form or what situation. I commend President Trump for his immediate display of strength following the attempted assassination and I hope he will soon be back in front of the American people. I call on all Nebraskans to offer their prayers for those impacted by today’s events and for our collective peace as a Nation.”

Nebraska Democratic Party Statement on Today’s Shooting in Pennsylvania

LINCOLN, NE – The Nebraska Democratic Party Chair Jane Kleeb issues the following statement on today’s shooting at a Donald Trump rally in Pennsylvania:

“The Nebraska Democratic Party condemns all political violence. We are grateful to the Secret Service and law enforcement for protecting former President Trump and getting him to safety. We hope all rally-goers are on their way home to their loved ones. ”

President Joe Biden also issued the following statement:

“I have been briefed on the shooting at Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania. I’m grateful to hear that he’s safe and doing well. I’m praying for him and his family and for all those who were at the rally, as we await further information. 

Jill and I are grateful to the Secret Service for getting him to safety. There’s no place for this kind of violence in America. We must unite as one nation to condemn it.”

Statement from Sen. Carol Blood:

13 July 2024/Bellevue, Nebraska: Senator Carol Blood, Nebraska Congressional Candidate for CD1 and sitting Senator for Legislative District 3 had the following statement in reference to the shooting at today’s Rally for former President Trump.

“I offer condolences to those whose family members lost their lives today and am thankful that our secret service is the best of the best and did their jobs so eloquently today to protect the former President. Violence is never the answer and I hope this incident brings us closer as a country and not further apart.”

Former President Donald Trump injured at rally! Secret Service removes him off stage and into SUV. The former President was standing as he was taken off the stage and at one point raised fist into the air.

There appeared to be several “pops” as he was speaking. The President appeared to be bleeding by the right ear but, it was not clear whether he was struck by an object or injured as he ducked down on the stage.
