HOLDREGE – A grain truck traveling westbound on south Lincoln Street in Holdrege tipped and spilled its contents of dried distillers grains along the roadway around noon on Wednesday. The driver sustained a minor injury but, did not seek medical attention.

Holdrege Police Chief Dennis DaMoude stated that the driver was concerned about another vehicle coming from the opposite direction that appeared to come close to or just crossed the center line. The semi driver took evasive action and when a wheel dropped into a pothole it took control of the steering away leading to the semi tipping over onto its side. Chief DaMoude added that speed may have also been a contributing factor.

DaMoude stated that the roadway will likely be closed to traffic until later Wednesday afternoon to clear the roadway and bring the truck back on its wheels.
