Lexington, Neb. — A woman made her first appearance Monday morning in Dawson County Court where she was informed of felony charges against her related to the stabbing of a man early Thursday, April 15th at a south Lexington residence.

33 year old Brook Priestley faces charges of First Degree Assault, Use of a Deadly Weapon and Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Prohibited Person.

Court documents say Lexington Police Officers were summoned to a home in south Lexington at 6:15 that morning following an incident in which a subject had been stabbed. Officers arrived and contacted the victim, who had been stabbed multiple times. The victim identified the person who stabbed him as Brook Priestley.

41 year old Ricardo Mendoza-Ramos stated he refused to give the woman a ride and she got upset and stabbed him. The victim was transported to Lexington Regional Health Center and treated for three injury wounds caused by a knife. Dawson County Deputies located Priestley at an address on West River Road in rural Lexington. She was arrested and taken to the Dawson County Jail.

The judge set Priestley’s Bond at $200,000, 10-percent — or a minimum of $20,000 for her release. Conditions of release on bond include no contact with the victim.

Priestley will make her next appearance May 4th at 11 a.m. for a preliminary hearing.

Preistley is currently serving probation in two separate criminal cases. She is serving three years of probation on a previous conviction of Second-Degree Assault stemming from an attack on another woman in Lexington in September 2020. Priestley had stabbed the woman twice behind the ear according to a police report.

Priestley is also serving two years of probation following her sentencing in Dawson County District Court in March 2021 on a charge of Attempted Possession of a Controlled Substance. Both terms of probation are being served at the same time.
