COZAD, NE – The Central Nebraska Pony Express will ride again this holiday season to carry Christmas cards from Gothenburg, Nebraska to Cozad.

The ride will start at 10am on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at the Gothenburg Public Library and riders will make their way to Cozad and approximately arrive at Wilson Public Library at noon.

Those who would like to have a letter carried on that Saturday should address them to friends or family anywhere in the world, affixed with the appropriate postage and in the Pony Express Mailbox by Friday, December 10, 2021. Letters can be dropped off at these three locations: Wilson Public Library in Cozad, Gothenburg Public Library, and Gothenburg State Bank in Brady.

Nebraska Division Riders will hand-stamp each envelope with the Pony Express seal and carry them by horseback to the Wilson Public Library where the letters will then be taken to the post office and sent to their destinations.

Riders will be available for photos upon arrival in Cozad at approximately noon.

The Nebraska Division for Pony Express is also looking for more riders to participate in this event as well as their annual re-ride that takes place in the summer. To sign up to be a rider go to https://nationalponyexpress.org/re-ride/current-reride/
