Grand Island, Neb. — The Central District Health Department (CDHD) is offering COVID-19 vaccines Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. each week with Thursday clinics running until 8 p.m. The district is no longer distributing vaccines at the Community Field House.

No appointment is necessary to get vaccines. Due to the end of the COVID-19 Emergency in Nebraska as of June 30, district officials will ask those with insurance to present their card at the time of vaccination. However, no one will be turned away. If you come to the CDHD office and are over the age of 12-years-old, you will get you vaccinated against COVID-19.

The Delta variant of COVID-19 has been confirmed in the Central District.

The Delta variant is at least 40% more contagious than the original COVID-19 strain and is considered a “variant of concern” by the Center for Disease Control. Those who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 are at low risk of contracting the virus or spreading it to others. As of July 13th, around 33% of eligible Central District residents were vaccinated. For more information call (308) 385-5175 or visit their website, www.cdhd.ne.gov.
