California man derailed in Nebr traffic stop

A 35-year-old California man was booked into the Dawson County Jail in Lexington following a traffic stop along Interstate 80 late Friday afternoon.   The Nebraska State Patrol stopped a vehicle at the Overton exit for a traffic violation.   During the course of the traffic stop, the trooper obtained consent to search the vehicle and found a duffel bag in the trunk.  The bag contained 25 packages that field-tested positive for Methamphetamine with a total weight of 26.2 pounds.   A package of unknown pills was also seized.


Octavio Padilla-Garcia of Los Angeles was placed under arrest and arraigned in Dawson Count Court Monday afternoon on a charge of Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute, a Class 1B Felony.    Bond was set at $1 Million but, he could be released if 10% surety is posted.   His next hearing was scheduled for March 4, 20201 at 8:30am.
