The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatality accident involving a single vehicle – bicycle crash. The bicyclist, a 48 year old Kearney man, has died as a result of the crash. The car was driven by a 39 year old Kearney man. The crash occurred at approximately 5:20 AM on Thursday August 1, 2024.
According to preliminary investigation, a bicyclist and a car were traveling eastbound on East 56th Street, just east of Antelope Avenue about a mile outside the city limits of Kearney, NE. The car collided with the rear of the bicycle.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by members of the Kearney Police Department, Kearney / Buffalo County Fatality Accident Investigation (FAIT) team, Kearney Volunteer Fire Department, CHI GSH Paramedics, Buffalo County Highway Department and the Buffalo County Attorney’s Office.
Investigation is ongoing at this time.
