New York-For a second straight year former Nebraska and K-State quarterback Adrian Martinez is in an NFL training camp. This weekend the New York Jets announced they have signed Martinez to a free agent deal. Last year Martinez was a late cut of the Detroit Lions.
This past spring he played for the United Football League’s Birmingham Stallions. This past season, he earned UFL MVP honors by throwing for 1,749 yards and 15 touchdowns, while also leading the league with 528 yards rushing. Martinez also helped Birmingham defeat the San Antonio Brahmas in the UFL Championship where he was named the game’s MVP. He joins a crowded Jets quarterback room that includes Aaron Rodgers, Tyrod Taylor, Jordan Travis and Andrew Peasley.
