A funeral service for Jacob Alan Kimberly will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastor Kenton Birtell officiating. Interment will follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege, with Military Honors performed by the Martin-Horn American Legion Post #66 in conjunction with the United States Offutt Air Force Funeral Honors Team.
Jacob Alan Kimberly, 29 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 27, 2024, near Pleasanton, Nebraska, as the result of a motorcycle accident. Jacob was born on December 27, 1994 in Holdrege, the eldest of two boys, born to Bradley and Tracy (Johnson) Kimberly. During his younger years he was active with soccer. Jacob received his education from R-7 Country School, Holdrege Middle School, and then graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 2013. During high school he was active with track.
Together the family enjoyed camping, boating, golfing, and spending time together with family and friends.
On January 21, 2014, Jacob enlisted into the United States Air Force and proudly served his country. He was stationed in Incirlik Air Base, Turkey for 15 months and then Scott AFB. He was honorably discharged on July 7, 2020 and then served in the Air National Guard.
Jacob then moved back to Holdrege in 2017, where he was employed at Kimberly Tax Services / H&R Block, until his passing.
He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, jet skiing, camping at Harlan County Lake, and hanging out with family and friends. He also enjoyed golfing, playing video games and spending time with his best friend, his brother.
Jacob was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Holdrege. He was later confirmed and a became a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. Jacob was a member of the Holdrege Eagle Rider’s and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aire #3132, where he was active as the Secretary.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Melvin Kimberly; and maternal grandparents: Dale D. Johnson and Mary Ann Brand.
He is survived by his parents, Brad and Tracy Kimberly of Holdrege; his brother, Ryan Kimberly and his significant other, Sarah Sinsel, both of Holdrege;
paternal grandmother: Bonnie Kimberly of Holdrege; Denise Kimberly of Holdrege; maternal grandparents: Dick and Margaruite Brand of Loomis; paternal aunts and uncles: Alan Kimberly and significant other, Suzy Martin of Saronville, Nebraska; and Cara Kimberly of Omaha, Nebraska; maternal aunts and uncles: Scott Brand and his wife, Valeria of Israel; Stacey Brand and his significant other, Jessica Estes of Lincoln, Nebraska; Crystal Herron and husband, Todd of Rock Port, Missouri; and JaWayne Douglass of Hastings, Nebraska; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Holdrege.
Memorials in Jacob’s honor are suggested to the family for future designation.
