Tuesday night at Scottsbluff High School featured a great environment for high school sports as Scottsbluff earned a thrilling five set win over rival Gering in front of a nearly packed house.

Scottsbluff had to rally back late as they won it by the scores of 23-25, 25-20, 20-25, 25-17, and 15-10.

Some of the top performers for Scottsbluff were Emma Hergenreder and Addy Bowlin. Hergenreder with what had to be a career best night as we had her down, UNOFFICIALLY, for 26 total points including 23 kills. Hergenreder also closed out the fourth set win with back to back ace served.

Bowlin rose to the occasion as well with, again unofficially, 20 total points- 15 kills, 4 blocks, and one ace.

For Gering it was the Jaxie John show. The versatile sophomore had at or near 30 kills (!), swinging off the left side the majority of the night.

With the win Scottsbluff improved to 6-8 and they’ll have a road match at Torrington on Thursday while Gering slipped to 7-4 ahead of their road trip to the McCook Invite this weekend.
