Improvements are coming to one local ball field.

This week, the Scottsbluff City Council awarded a bid to a local firm for a replacement fence at Cleveland Field on West 20th Street.

City Manager Kevin Spencer says they’ve opted to go with an eight foot chain link fence to replace the aging, deteriorating wood fence that has been described as ‘dangerous’.

“We received two bids. One bid was considered non-conforming. And so we’re recommending that we go with the bid from Van Pelt Fencing fencing in the amount of $63,135, which is $2,105 below the engineer’s estimate.”

Spencer says work on the fence is expected this fall following unanimous approval of the bid to Van Pelt Fencing.
