The District will begin taking water down the laterals on May 13th. Early water will start to be available to customers around May 14th and May 15th, depending on the District’s ability to get laterals cleaned for delivery.
They anticipate having water available for delivery for approximately 15 days, depending on demand and water levels in the lakes.
The Bureau of Reclamation is currently projecting a full water supply for 2024. Should conditions change, the District will adjust its plans accordingly. While the water supply outlook is adequate, we value the role of our farmers and encourage them to work with the District to manage and conserve as much water as possible.
In a news release, PID General Manager Rick Miller said we are always just one bad snowpack year away from a short water season, and carryover into the next year gets us through those bad snowpack years.
