It was a Class B classic at Bearcat Stadium on Friday as the Seward Blue Jays stayed unbeaten as they won it over Scottsbluff 28-27.
After Scottsbluff scored with 9:20 to play in the game on a Des Smith 4 yard touchdown run, Seward blocked the extra point and then went on a scoring drive that lasted 7 minutes and 13 seconds, getting a Edison Knott touchdown run with 2:07 to play and they got a key extra point after a bad snap to go in front by one.
Scottsbluff then went four and out and Seward earned a huge road victory.
Scottsbluff had matching 146 yard rushing performances from Nate Kelley and Des Smith with Kelley scoring three touchdowns (4, 30, and 8 yard runs) while Smith scored once.
Scottsbluff falls to 3-1 and they’ll play at Lexington next week.
