A Scottsbluff businessman arrested in January as part of a sex-trafficking investigation has accepted a plea deal in which he’s agreed to testify against another defendant in a related case.

Jeffrey Calder last month entered pleas of no contest to amended charges of Solicitation of Prostitution, two counts of Attempted Possession of a Short Shotgun and False Reporting, all Class 1 misdemeanors.

In two separate but related cases, Calder had been facing one misdemeanor and six felony charges, including Sex Trafficking and two counts of Possession of a Stolen Firearm.

In the agreement, Calder would not be required to register as a sex offender, and he agreed to testify in the State’s sex-trafficking and forcible sexual assault case against James “Jimmy” Gutierrez.

Sentencing for Calder was set for Nov. 22nd at 8:30 a.m. in Scotts Bluff County District Court.
