Kimball has a new City Administrator, with the City Council Tuesday night approving the appointment of Annette Brower.

The decision did not come without some disagreement from a few members of the public, with one former council member saying while she didn’t have an issue with Brower, she did think some council members had a conflict of interest on the subject.

Councilwoman Christy Warner replied she thought it proper to vote on the appointment, saying Brower cares deeply about the community, as shown by the fact she’s still working for the city after a similar appointment more than a year ago fell through.

“After the treatment that she went through over a year ago, if it was most people, they would have thrown their hands up and said ‘You know what? I don’t need this job that much’. There’s no way we pay any of our administrators worth going through that,” said Warner. “And yet, she held her head high and continued to do her job day in and day out, and took all the crap from anybody that was willing to give it, and is still sitting here doing her job. Why? Because she cares about the community, and if you can’t see that, you’re pretty blind.”

Councilman Creg Pike noted that even the search consultant from Baker Tilly was impressed with Brower, so much so that she would be interested in hiring Brower or finding her another post if Kimball didn’t make her their top administrator.

The vote approving the appointment was three to two in favor.
