Best in the West Track & Field – Notable performances and results

There were plenty of great performances at the Best in the West Track and Field Meet in Scottsbluff on Tuesday with one school in particular dominating the proceedings.

Competing against the best the region has to offer it was Sidney High School front and center, as they had 14 first place finishes!

GIRLS

  • Karsyn Leeling, Sidney – One of the top tracksters in the state had a day winning the high jump (5’11), long jump (18’6), and triple jump (37’8 – PR)
  • Talissa Tanquary, Sidney – Also a monster evening as she won the 800 meters, mile, and ran on two winning relay teams
  • Chloe Ahrens, Sidney – Won the 100 and 300 hurdles and also ran on the Lady Raiders winning mile relay team
  • Brooklyn Asmus, Torrington – 100 and 200 meter champion last night while anchoring the Blazers win in the 4×100 meter relay
  • Scottsbluff got a win from Hannah Rugroden in the mile
  • Gering got a win from Alison Bradford in the 3,200 meters
  • Grace Dean, Bridgeport – Finished first in the shot put and second in the discus
  • Kate Pieper, Mitchell – Pole Vault winner at 10’0 (PR)

BOYS

  • Isak Doty, Sidney – Ran to wins in the 100 and 200 meters plus ran on the winning 4×100 and 4×400 meter relay teams
  • Sidney went took the first four spots in the 100 meters (Doty, Lance Holly, Landon Riddle, Luke Holly) and top three spots in the 200 (Doty, Riddle, L. Holly)
  • Creighton Beals, Gering – Took first place in both the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles, PR’d in both
  • Gering’s two-mile relay team of Tanner Gartner, Jackson Howard, Aiden Narvais, and Axton Stone ran to a win with a time of 8:20.57
  • Theron Miller, Hemingford – Took first place in the discus at 145’7.5
  • Kimball went first and second in the Pole Vault with Trevor Fuss and Peter Russell
  • Trevor Zurn, Alliance – Won the 800 meters with a time of 1:59.66 (PR)
