Grand Island- One of the state’s all time coaches is hanging it up. GICC volleyball coach Sharon Zavala announced today (Monday) that she is retiring from coaching volleyball. Zavala finishes her career with an amazing 1,177-220 record with 11 state championships, 9 state runner-ups and 35 trips to the state tournament. GICC qualified for this year’s Class C1 state tournament in Zavala’s final year as head coach. In 2022 the Crusaders won the Class C1 state title.
