HOLDREGE – Steve Sousek began his five day journey across the state of Nebraska on Sunday in Lyman, just west of Scottsbluff. On Tuesday morning, he caught up with the Rural Radio Network’s Austin Jacobsen for an update on how his journey has been so far. To listen to the complete interview, click here.

Sousek adds that he felt that the beginning was a great start, until hitting some speedbumps along the way:

Sousek continued that after being checked out for any injuries, he was good to go once again. More ominous happenings occurred however, as his bike tire fell flat after being cleared to return to the road. Since the bumpy start, Sousek regained his confidence and states that he has had no issues since.

While Steve continued his journey through Nebraska from Sunday into Monday, he added that he has enjoyed the views of Nebraska scenery at a much slower pace from how many others see it:

While Sousek has enjoyed the views, he also adds it is frustrating to not be able to enjoy all the local spots in communities he passes through:

Sousek completed his swimming portion of Tuesday’s goal at the Don Sjogren Community YMCA in Holdrege. After completing his swim, Sousek departed Holdrege heading north to Elm Creek, where he will travel then to Hazard and stopping in Dannebrog to complete the day.

Sousek reiterates his goal is to complete the five Ironman Triathlons in five days. To find more information about RUNBORN, Sousek’s journey, and how to donate, visit RUNBORN.org, or go to Steve’s pre-race interview here.
