LEXINGTON, NE – Experts in trapping and fur harvesting will gather for the 47th Annual Fall Convention for the Nebraska Fur Harvesters Association on September 24 – 25, 2021.

Association Public Relations Director Jessica Powers says all who are interested in learning more about trapping are welcome to attend the two day event.

Admission for the event:

  • 16 & Under – FREE
  • 17 & Up – $5 for one day wristband, $10 for two day wristband

The convention will start at 8am at the Dawson County Fairgrounds in Lexington, Nebraska on Friday, September 24 with demonstrations on multiple species.

Demonstrations on coyote, raccoon, beaver and fur handling along with many others will be given throughout both days.

Friday night they will host a free-will donation potluck dinner and fish fry. The association asks that those who attend bring their favorite dish or dessert.

Things start back up at 8AM on Saturday, September 25 with vendors and demonstrations, then a class at 10am on: Raccoon Trapping on a Budget for Beginners.

At noon there will be a general membership meeting, more demonstrations to follow, as well as games.

Games include a kids ball toss at 2pm, ladies skillet toss at 4pm and a trap setting contest at 4:30pm.

The event closes the night off with a BBQ pork feed at 6:30 and a white elephant auction at 7pm.

Powers says funds from the potluck, BBQ and auction will go back to the association to aid in trapper education and represent trappers across Nebraska as well as help with future conventions.
