Huskers Give Up 20 Runs In Loss

Max Anderson slugged his 36th career home run to move into a tie for eighth all-time in program history, as the Huskers fell 20-5 in the series finale at No. 23 Maryland on Sunday afternoon in College Park, Md. Nebraska (25-19-1, 10-8 Big Ten) recorded five runs and nine hits, while Maryland (33-16, 13-5 Big Ten) totaled 20 runs on 20 hits. Will Walsh pitched 2.1 innings in the start, allowing three runs on four hits with a strikeout. Drew Christo dropped to 1-1 on the season after giving up two runs on one hit and a walk in 0.2 innings. Jake Bunz and Brett Sears teamed up to surrender seven runs on six hits with two walks and a pair of strikeouts in one inning.

Anderson went 2-for-4 with a double, home run, two RBI and a run scored to lead the Huskers at the plate. Charlie Fischer had a 2-for-5 day with a pair of singles and a run. Garrett Anglim was 1-for-3 with a double and a run, and Dylan Carey went 1-for-3 with a two-RBI singles. Casey Burnham, Blake Mozley and Griffin Everitt each recorded one single. The Huskers are now 10-8 in Big Ten action which leaves them in a four way tie for 6th place. Nebraska returns to action with a pair of games at Creighton on Tuesday, May 9 in Omaha. The Huskers and Bluejays will resume last month’s suspended game at 5 p.m. Following the completion of the suspended game, the two teams will meet in the series finale scheduled for 7:03 p.m.
