Hall County, Neb. — A two-vehicle crash on Highway 30 and Capital Avenue east of Grand Island caused the death of a woman and injured two other people early Thursday.

Hall County Sheriff’s Deputies say a preliminary investigation indicates a 2017 Ram pickup driven by a 17 year old female of Grand Island was stopped at the stop sign at Highway 30 and Capital Avenue. The Ram pickup driver attempted to

turn west onto Highway 30 from Capital Avenue and collided with a 2011 Peterbilt, driven by 71 year old Jerry Archer of Marquette, that was traveling east on Highway 30.

The 17 year old was injured and transported by ambulance to CHI St. Francis Medical Center. The lone passenger in the Ram pickup was identified as 81 year old Roberta Tipton of Grand Island. Tipton was also transported to CHI St. Francis and was declared deceased.

Archer was injured in the collision and was also transported by ambulance to CHI St. Francis. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

Both occupants in the Ram pickup were searing seat belts when the crash occurred.

An accident reconstruction team was called to the scene to assist in the investigation, which remains ongoing.
