SEWARD – The Bluejays performed well on both sides of the ball to defeat Hastings 30-7 in a
homecoming matchup at Bulldog Stadium on the campus of Concordia University.

The Bluejays were again led by senior quarterback Gavin Sukup as he passed for
one touchdown and ran for another. Senior Trevor Ruth scored on an
interception and Junior Nolan Hill ran in for the final Bluejay score of the game.
Parker Hammond kicked a field goal to round out the scoring.

The Seward defense held Hastings scoreless until late in the fourth quarter. Penalties plagued
Hastings for the whole game and allowed Seward to take command early and
control the contest. The Seward Class B Championship team members from 2001
were on hand to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their state championship and
watch a Bluejay victory.
