Farm broadcaster Alex Voichoskie has been named the 2021 recipient of the National Association of Farm Broadcasting (NAFB) Horizon Award. The award honors a young farm broadcaster for their accomplishments within the first five years of their NAFB membership.

The announcement was made during the 78th Annual NAFB Convention held in Kansas City, Missouri this week.

“It’s such an honor to receive this award, especially when I received it in a room filled with the best farm broadcasters across the nation,” she said.

Voichoskie, who first joined the Nebraska Rural Radio Association (NRRA) as an intern in the fall of 2018, is now a multimedia producer for the company. In her role, she contributes to the Rural Radio Network daily programming, produces content for the KRVN Midday show and co-hosts the Max Country morning show, among other tasks. She works from the Nebraska Soybean Board studios on the Nebraska Innovation Campus in Lincoln.

“I am very grateful to have Alex on our team,” said NRRA CEO Tim Marshall. “We have an incredibility talented group of farm broadcasters that contribute to the Rural Radio Network and I am proud of their continued success.”

Voichoskie majored in agricultural and environmental sciences communication and minored in animal science at UNL. She transferred to UNL after graduating from Southeast Community College in Beatrice with a degree in agriculture business and management technology.

Voichoskie was awarded the NAFB Foundation BASF Grow Smart™ scholarship in 2018.
