Authorities say to date, no structures have been lost in a wildland grass fire northeast of Fort Laramie near the Pine Ridge Ranch subdivision.
1,290 acres had burned as of 10 a.m. Tuesday morning in a blaze that Goshen County Emergency Management says was started by lightning Monday afternoon.
Firefighters from Fort Laramie, Lingle, Torrington, Jay Em, Yoder, La Grange, Prairie Center, Veteran and Hartville made the initial attack on the flames, with additional assistance expected Tuesday from Wyoming State Forestry, the Smokebusters and BLM.
Single Engine Air Tankers from Casper have been on hand making drops of retardant on the fire lines as well.
A figure on the percentage of containment has yet to be officially released.
