Only One Glitch in Region 22 Statewide Tornado Siren Testing Wednesday
March 28th, 2024 | Ryan Murphy

Wednesday was the statewide tornado drill, a key component to Nebraska’s Severe Weather Awareness Week.

At 9 a.m. mountain time, sirens from across the region blared their mighty voices to ensure they were in good, proper, working order in the event of an actual tornado.

Region 22 Emergency Manager Tim Newman, who oversees Scotts Bluff and Banner Counties, says that everything worked as planned- with the exception of one technical difficulty.

Newman tells KNEB News that the lone glitch was located and corrected.

He says that the sirens will be tested monthly in the spring and summer months to make sure they remain functioning correctly.
