The area signing spree continued on Wednesday afternoon with Mitchell High School continuing to be a popular stop.

This time it was senior golfer Burke Schneider inking with Hastings College. Schneider says this opportunity from Hastings is a game changer and he even had to use social media to help himself in the recruiting game, “I had no offers my junior or senior year. DM and Instagram and we just talked. Went up there and took a visit, it was awesome. Loved it. And getting to golf for four years it’ll be really fun.”

A real nice touch yesterday was added by Hastings first year golf coach Skyler Good, who made the near six hour drive out to be a part of the signing festivities. That did not go unnoticed, “I mean driving six hours here to come see me is pretty awesome. It’s really cool having him being here”, Schneider said.

Schneider added he appreciates all the support from his family, friends, teammates, and coaches in his time at Mitchell and he’s hoping to continue to chop off strokes from his golf game as he heads to Hastings in the fall, “I’ve definitely improved from my freshman year, about twenty strokes different from then. I can’t wait to see where college can take me. Hoping for some pretty good scores.”

Schneider plans to major in computer science.
