In a release this afternoon from Scottsbluff Activities Director Dave Hoxworth the school has named Hattie Burford as head coach of the girls basketball program.
“We believe that Coach Burford is going to embrace the future of our Girl’s basketball program and be a great role model for our female athletes.”
Burford takes the post after serving as an assistant coach for the program the last seven years.
She’ll take over for interim coach Mike Burda, who assumed the role after Dave Bollish stepped down late in the year this past season.
Mr. Hoxworth said Burford “is a Bearcat through and through.”
Coach Burford was a three sport standout at Scottsbluff High School, where she graduated back in 2011. She starred on the basketball team while also competing in soccer and cross country.
Burford went on to play basketball at Chadron State College where she was a three year starter.
Burford is currently a physical education teacher at Scottsbluff Schools while also coaching track and cross country.
