A 44-year-old Gordon woman facing several theft and forgery charges in two separate cases has waived her preliminary hearings.

Krystal Freeseman is charged with theft by deception, theft by unlawful taking, and 2nd degree forgery, all in amounts of $5,000 or more, in each case tied to her former roles with the Rushville Housing Authority and Gordon American Legion Baseball organization.

In early August, State Auditor Mike Foley’s office outlined questionable use of public funds while Freeseman was director of the Housing Authority between Jan. 1, 2021 and Feb. 29, 2024.

In the other case, NSP investigators allege Freeseman improperly used legion baseball funds for personal benefit between Jan. 1, 2020 and Sept. 30, 2023.

All six charges are class 2A felonies, each punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

During Freeseman’s initial appearance Thursday morning, Judge Aaron Conn bound the case over to District Court for arraignment Sept. 10 at 9:30 a.m.
