Gering Public School students and their parents will get a bit of a break on meals and various fees in the coming school year.

During a special meeting this week, the Gering School Board approved a modest ten cent increase in the price of breakfast and lunch in both elementary and secondary schools.

With the ongoing nutritional requirements from the USDA, and the terms all school districts must meet under terms of the National School Lunch Program, USDA provides a “Lunch Price Calculator” to help inform administrative decisions on establishing meal prices.

That same increase also holds for adult meals, and the price of milk will be the same as it was the previous school year.

The Board also approved a student fee schedule that’s exactly the same as 2023-24 for non-athletic club and extra-curricular participation, activity tickets, technology use and college classes.
