Here’s a partial recap of some of the events from the weekend around the region from high school sports. Most of this was stuff turned in from local athletic directors.

Boys Tennis – Hastings Invite

Scottsbluff finished second in the team standings on the road on Friday at Hastings. The Bearcats finished with a total of 26 points on the day to finish second to Norfolk (40 pts). Ethan Ramirez tallied a total of 10 points on the day at #1 singles for the Bearcats.

Alliance finished in seventh place with a total of 12 points.

Softball

The Scottsbluff softball team went 3-0 on Saturday winning the Gothenburg Invite as they improved to 25-6 on the season. Scottsbluff beat Gothenburg 10-1, Southern Valley/Alma 11-1, and St. Paul 10-0. Scottsbluff will play their regular season finale on Tuesday at Chadron.

Gering was at the Adams Central Invite where the Bulldogs finished at 1-2. Gering got their win over Ord 7-5 and they lost games to Cozad 8-7 and Wayne 17-14. Gering will close out regular season play on Tuesday with a road game at Alliance. We’ll have coverage on KMOR 93.3 FM and KMORfm.com starting at approximately 5:45.

Volleyball

Gering was on the road at the Adams Central Invite and picked up two wins in their three matches. Gering beat Centura (2-1) and Doniphan-Trumbull (2-0). Their loss came to Superior (2-0). Gering will travel to play at Ogallala on Tuesday night.

Scottsbluff finished with a 1-2 record at the Holdrege Invite picking up their lone win over Cozad in a sweep. Their losses came to Kearney Catholic (2-0) and Minden (2-1). Scottsbluff will host Sidney on Tuesday and we’ll have coverage for that match on KNEB.tv, ALLO 15, Mobius 1500, 106.9 The Trail and KHYYfm.com starting at 6:45.
