The Scotts Bluff Area Visitors Bureau has awarded funds to the Scotts Bluff County Ag Society, The Circle the Bluffs Pow-Wow and 308 United Softball. With the popularity of art growing in Nebraska, the tourism committee was excited to see the plans for the grandstands at the Scotts Bluff County Fairgrounds. Manager Lanna Hubbard presented a mural idea to the tourism committee that depicts farm life in Western Nebraska, history in Scotts Bluff County and the amazing beauty that surrounds the area. “We really want the display to be all about what we have to offer in Scotts Bluff County,” states Lanna Hubbard. “The grandstands are old and need to be revived a little”.

Circle the Bluffs Pow-Wow is back after a summer off and they have a great celebration planned for later in June. Explore Native American music and dance as groups compete in multiple segments of dance. “We are always excited to host events at the Legacy of the Plains Museum in the summer because we are all about preserving culture for generations to come,” expresses Dave Wolf, Director of the museum. Jina Rednest is taking the reigns on the event and is planning new and fun ideas.

The 308 United Softball is primed for a summer full of tournaments. The Gering and Scottsbluff competitive softball teams recently merged to create a team that will now host larger teams from various states to our area to compete in softball and give girls a chance to continue the popular summer tradition. The funds they received are part of the Sports Incentive funds the Visitor Bureau offers. “These tournaments bring in hundreds of families annually and they spend money in our hotels, grocery stores, gas stations, attractions and restaurants. Our incentive grants help events that bring in a large number of guests, but don’t required large marketing dollars to promote the event,” adds Brenda Leisy, Director of the Scotts Bluff Area Visitors Bureau.
