A Sidney teen is facing legal trouble following a threat that prompted activation of safety protocols at Sidney High Thursday.

According to a release from Cheyenne County Attorney Paul Schaub, Sidney Police Department and the Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report around 1:52 p.m. of a threat made involving a Sidney High School student.

According to witnesses, the student advised others not to go to school tomorrow because he was going to shoot it up. School officials contacted law enforcement, and placed the school building in a hold.

Law enforcement arrived at the school, but the student had left, and was taken into custody after being found at his residence.

The school hold was subsequently lifted as District officials and law enforcement advised the threat was no longer active.
