A Scottsbluff businessman is facing a slew of new charges following his arrest Friday afternoon in a landlord-tenant dispute that turned physical.

Court documents say Friday morning, 59-year-old Kuldip “Cheema” Singh went to one of his properties on 13th Street in Gering to collect rent, and while the tenant was not home, her 17-year-old son was.

The arrest affidavit stated that Singh forced his way into the house and confronted the son about paying rent, reportedly grabbing the teen by his throat and pushing him back into the wall as the confrontation escalated.

The tenant was able to provide security video of the incident to police that corroborated what the 17-year-old had told officers.

Singh was ultimately arrested on charges including Intentional and Knowing Child Abuse, Second Degree Trespass, and Disturbing the Peace, and was freed after posting ten percent of a $20,000 bond.

Singh was arrested last year following a lengthy bootlegging operation investigation for his role as operator of a local liquor and convenience store, with sixteen misdemeanor liquor law violations still pending. A pre-trial conference in that case is scheduled for April 28.
